chasing redbird.

First of all, just want to say HELLO and I am super thrilled to be a part of your wonderful blog. Thanks for allowing me to participate :)

I think most of us can agree that Sharon Creech is a pretty great author. This book was one of my favorites as a youngin, and I found it on Amazon for like $4 so, naturally, I couldn't resist buying it. I was really curious to see if it still appealed to me as an adult. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that I love it just as much as I did in grade school. It is a light, easy read and has a good message. Reading it reminded me of my childhood kinda. Cheesy? Okay. I can deal with being cheesy.

Here is the summary from the back of the book: {i just can't explain it any better}

It started out as an ordinary summer. But the minute thirteen-year-old Zinny discovered the old, overgrown trail that ran through the woods behind her family's house, she realized that things were about to change.
Right from the start, Zinny knew that uncovering the trail would be more than just a summer project. It was her chance to finally make people notice her, and to have a place she could call her very own. But more than that, Zinny knew that the trail somehow held the key to all kinds of questions. And that the only way to understand her family, her Aunt Jessie's death, and herself, was to find out where it went.
...here is an intricately woven tale of a young girl who sets out in search of her place in the world -- and discovers it in her own backyard.

Such a cute story. I love characters that I can relate to. I was the middle child in my family with five kids so I somewhat understand the whole not-sure-where-I-fit-in deal. I love Zinnia. She is witty,strong and has a killer attitude. I definitely recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a fun, easy read.
