In three words I deem this novel: intellectual, engaging, and suspenseful.
I'm sure we're all familiar with Dan Brown's The Da Vinci Code (if you're not, I recommend reading it); well, Angels & Demons is the prelude to The Da Vinci Code. The adventure begins with the well-known character Robert Langdon, world-renowned Harvard symbolist, who embarks on a wild and intellectual quest to Italy's Vatican with the beautiful Vittoria Vetra.
There is one thing that sticks out in my mind that Dan Brown is flawless with, and that is creating a 'blockbuster perfection' novel. I really enjoyed Brown's talent of story telling. He is the kind of author who can "jump-around" in a book and get away with it. The moment he leaves a scene in a book, seems to be the perfect moment to leave; and consequently, the moment he comes back to that moment is just as perfect.
Though I have to be completely honest, I have one small negative about this book: My husband can attest to this: I'm really sensitive to torture and talk of or acts of sexual abuse. And this novel had it. However, it wasn't bad enough to deter me in finishing the novel. I still enjoyed it, and would recommend this fast-paced, blockbuster novel to anyone.
