These Is My Words...

I loved this book. It grabs you at the very beginning and I couldn't put it down. I had to use a lot of will power to go to sleep some nights instead of reading on. I loved the diary format. I loved Sarah (she's strong, has a temper, does what she wants - but then thinks she's bad for doing certain acts) & I loved her man. That was the best part, the romance/love.

You can read more about These Is My Words HERE. I agree with Ariel on everything, especially the title (her grammar was never that bad) and HERE with Gina. I didn't read any of the quotes or summary before I started the book (except when Ariel & Gina originally posted) but I would advise you do the same. The quotes (which ariel talks about) give GOOD stuff away :) So consider yourself warned.

Also, my grandma found out I was reading this and was so surprised. (ouch). But if you think it doesn't sound interesting, you should still give it a shot.

This book was formally reviewed here. And upon finishing her review I decided to read it myself. I'm always interested in a good love story, especially when compared to Rhett and Scarlett from Gone with the Wind. In short, I thoroughly enjoyed the adventure I was taken on by Mrs. Captain Jack Elliot, formally Miss Prine.

I liked the"book group discussions" offered in the back of the book - specifically these two questions below. What do you think?

• Using first-person narrator limits the reader's perspective. At times, one may feel that Sarah is neither honest with herself nor correctly interpreting others' actions or feelings. How might the book have changed if it were written in third person?
• Does it mean anything that we never know Sarah's mother's name?

these is my words.

firstly, i just have to say that i hate the title of this book. granted, it is written in diary format and the narrator, sarah, is not formally educated. her grammar & spelling are poor at the beginning of the book because she is just learning to write, and she gets better as time passes. but nowhere in the book is her grammar so poor that she would say something like "these is my words". i wish it was titled These Are My Words or just My Words or something. i don't know. it just bugs me that the title is grammatically incorrect. anyway... moving on.

i LOVED the book. sarah prine is a wonderful character. she is strong and stubborn and courageous and hilarious. her story is exciting, tragic, inspiring, and most importantly: romantic! i didn't read the cover before i started reading {it just came highly recommended by several friends} so i had no idea that this was a love story. there is a quote from USA Today on the front cover that says: "Jack and Sarah are as delicious a couple as Rhett and Scarlett" and i tooootally agree. here's a little more from the cover:
