i am number four.

Nine of us came here. We look like you. We talk like you. We live among you. But we are not you. We are the superheroes you worship in movies and comic books. But we are real. Our plan was to grow, and train, and become strong, become one, and fight them. But they found us and started hunting us first. Now all of us are running. Spending our lives in shadows, in places where no one would look, blending in. We have lived among you without you knowing.
But they know.
They caught Number One in Malaysia.
Number Two in England.
Number Three in Kenya.
They killed them all.

I am Number Four.
I am next.

This book kept me reading. It entertained me, and I can see some real potential in this series. And because I think this series has some potential, I am somewhere between like and love on this one. But closer to LIKE because I thought the story was missing something. I am interested to see if this series catches on like The Hunger Games. Maybe not. The second book The Power Of Six, comes out in August.
My complaint about this book is one that I often have. Not enough exposition. Not enough detail. The chapters were short and choppy and moved WAY too fast. There are 34 chapters, and something like 400 pages. And yet, I never felt like I could connect with the characters. I felt like I didn't have enough time to get to know them, so by the end of the book, I found myself a little disappointed that I couldnt exactly wrap my head around their individual stories or understand what they were feeling.
Meh. Anyway, good book. Easy read.

I hope the series goes uphill from here, because like I said: Potential.
