Ella Enchanted

I've been forgetting to post about this and the 5th Ward (though anyone is welcome) book club is meeting this Tuesday at my house if you want to come. This is our extra credit book. I'll admit, the main book bored me and though it is so unlike me, I didn't finish it, I just gave up and returned it to the library. There wasn't anything offensive about the book, except how much of my time it wasted.

This book though, I loved it. Also, so unlike me, I saw the movie, years ago, before reading the book. No big deal. The book and the movie are very different. Don't get me wrong, I love the movie - I mean who could dislike anything with Hugh Dancy (well, except I do dislike Claire Daines since she married him, stealing him from the rest of us, and always gets to be with him.) But if you've had the misfortune of reading Wicked and then the fortune of seeing the musical, you know how movies or plays can be "based" upon a book, but tell a totally different story. Fortunately in this case, both the book Ella Enchanted and the movie tell a fun, clean story of the adventures about Ella of Frell (aka: Cinderella if you didn't already guess - the book makes it more obvious than the movie does).

It's a quick read. It's a fun read. I recommend you read... Ella Enchanted.

Enjoy and come join us Tuesday night.
=)

this is one of my favorites. i think i read it for the first time in grade school. Yeah, I'm a youngin':)
I enjoyed it FAR MORE than the movie. But then again, I usually tend to choose books over movies!

I'm going to try and come to the book group even though I didn't read either book. I do plan to read Ella Enchanted, but have heard the same review of Cold Sassy Tree that you just gave. Don't worry about giving anything away- you know I always read the last page first anyway! :)
