Fablehaven (one + two)
In three words I deem the first two books of the Fablehaven series: fun, light, and fantastic.
I am still alive, though I haven't had a post in quite a while--I've been in Fablehaven. And want to invite all you fantastic readers into it's enchanting world as well.
I just finished the second book (how many are there?) and am impressed that these books didn't turn out ridiculously cheesy for me. Granted these books are designed for 8-12 year olds, but found them just as entertaining to a 26 year old. :) Some have compared these to the Harry Potter series. Really?? Harry Potter is much more detailed and character driven, but that's not to say it isn't a good read. Because it is. And worthy to stand on my book shelf. Although I do have to admit there were a couple parts in the first book that made me jumpy. The witch character, Muriel, is quite the scary one. I found myself wishing Anthony were home as I read about her and her bloody knots she bit at. Gross.
I'm excited to read the third book, but will take a break and delve into The Lovely Bones so I can read it before I see the movie.
3 out of 5 stars
