i adored this book.
i love any book that can make me laugh and cry. it was fun, interesting, sad, happy, romantic, insightful and addicting!!!
the story takes place in a nine month period shortly after the end of world war II. juliet ashton, a writer from london, receives a letter from dawsey adams, a founding member of the guernsey literary and potato peel pie society. juliet becomes friends with dawsey and the other members of the society through letters, and eventually moves to guernsey to meet them and gather their stories about the German Occupation of the island during the war. the entire story is told through letters, telegrams and notes.
it was a treat to read and i highly recommend it. it made me wish people still wrote letters instead of text messages and emails.
maybe i will start :)
have you read it? what did you think?

I think our ward book group is reading this for September. I look forward to reading it.
I absolutely loved this book. It really reminded me of a 'modern,' if you call 1940s modern, Jane Austen book because the writer was just so witty. It also reminded me of the Anne of Green Gables series with the quaint small town life. I also love anything that takes place in the WWII era. So this book pretty much was a super star in my mind.
I read this book on Saturday. I loved it as well :) It was so cute and charming. And I want to go to Guernsey SO bad, and london etc etc. I was sad at how abrubtly it ended as well. But I loved it!! Dawsey, so cute and shy! Great book!
