these is my words.

firstly, i just have to say that i hate the title of this book. granted, it is written in diary format and the narrator, sarah, is not formally educated. her grammar & spelling are poor at the beginning of the book because she is just learning to write, and she gets better as time passes. but nowhere in the book is her grammar so poor that she would say something like "these is my words". i wish it was titled These Are My Words or just My Words or something. i don't know. it just bugs me that the title is grammatically incorrect. anyway... moving on.

i LOVED the book. sarah prine is a wonderful character. she is strong and stubborn and courageous and hilarious. her story is exciting, tragic, inspiring, and most importantly: romantic! i didn't read the cover before i started reading {it just came highly recommended by several friends} so i had no idea that this was a love story. there is a quote from USA Today on the front cover that says: "Jack and Sarah are as delicious a couple as Rhett and Scarlett" and i tooootally agree. here's a little more from the cover:

A moving, exciting, and heartfelt American saga inspired by the author's own family memoirs, these words belong to Sarah Prine, a woman of spirit and fire who forges a full and remarkable existence in a harsh, unfamiliar frontier. Scrupulously recording her steps down the path Providence has set her upon--from child to determined young adult to loving mother--she shares the turbulent events, both joyous and tragic, that molded her, and recalls the enduring love with cavalry officer Captain Jack Elliot that gave her strength and purpose. Rich in authentic everyday details and alive with truly unforgettable characters, These Is My Words brilliantly brings a vanished world to breathtaking life again.

read it. you'll laugh and cry... and you'll love it.

Hey Ariel,

I've really wanted to read this book. I'll have to add it to the list. I saw that you are reading Memory Keepers Daughter. So good. How far are you? -May be a tough one while you are pregnant ;)

If you guys are looking for more authors, I'd love to play. It looks like we have similar taste in books.

I just invited you, Brittany. We would LOVE a new author!

And yes, I've questioned why I am reading The Memory Keeper's Daughter while I'm pregnant! It's kind of depressing. But I'm fairly sure I'm not having twins OR a down syndrome child. And that Sean would never give away one of our children :)
